Houston Dash News Release

HOUSTON - The Orlando Pride picked up their first road victory in franchise history at BBVA Compass Stadium tonight, edging out the Houston Dash 1-0.

The game-winning goal was initiated by MF Lianne Sanderson who found MF Kristen Edmonds outside the 18-yard box in the 81st minute. Edmonds shot between two Dash defenders and her impressive shot struck the underside of the cross bar and hit the net for the decisive goal and her first professional goal.

It was the fifth time in six games this season the opposing team scored the first goal against the Dash. Before tonight, the Dash were twice able to come back to pick up a victory, including Houston's 3-1 victory over the Chicago Red Stars on April 16 at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Pride GK Ashlyn Harris handled the early pressure well as the Dash won a corner kick in the first minute. Four minutes later Harris would quell another Dash advance as she handled FW Kealia Ohai's cross inside her six-yard box.

Ohai had one of Houston's best scoring opportunities in the 20th minute when she dribbled into the box and shot towards goal but her effort hit the outside of the net at the near post.

DF Jasmyne Spencer forced a save from Dash GK Lydia Williams in the 53rd minute. Spencer's shot towards the near post was low but right at Williams, who finished the game with three saves.

MF Andressa found second-half substitute FW Stephanie Ochs making a run into the box in the 78th minute for her only shot of the game. Harris denied Ochs at the edge of the six yard box and finished the game with five saves.

Pride FW Alex Morgan's best scoring opportunity of the game came in the 79th minute but her header was cleared off the goal line by DF Allysha Chapman.

MF Amber Brooks was the last substitution for the Dash and in the 88th minute she shot on goal from about 32 yards away. Harris was well positioned to handle the shot.

The Pride now lead the all-time series 2-0-0 and the next meeting between both clubs is on Thursday, June 23 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
