Skinner Scores Twice In 5-2 Win Over Whalers

The Kitchener Rangers opened up the New Year with a 5-2 win over the Plymouth Whalers.

John Moore scored his 4th goal of the season one-minute in to the first period to put Kitchener up 1-0. Gabriel Landeskog scored his 11th of the season when he batted in a shot by Chris MacKinnon from the high slot.

After a scoreless second period Leo Jenner beat Rangers goaltender Mavric Parks high to the stick side at the 5:10 mark, making it a one-goal game. Whalers' Tyler J. Brown tied the scoring mid-way through the period 2-2. Jeff Skinner scored his 30th goal of the season to give Kitchener a 3-2 lead by the 15:44 mark. The Rangers went on to score two empty net goals to claim a 5-2

victory over Plymouth. Goals were by Skinner and Julian Cimadamore.

The Rangers travel to Saginaw to play the Spirit at 7:11pm tomorrow -Saturday, January 2 and then to Sault Ste. Marie on Sunday for a 7:00 pm game versus the Greyhounds. They return to The Aud on Friday, January 8th to play host to the Erie Otters at 7:30pm.
