
Skeeters Shut out Patriots 8-0

Bridgewater, New Jersey - The Sugar Land Skeeters (17-10, 52-45) defeated the Somerset Patriots (10-18, 52-46) 8-0 on Friday evening at TD Bank Ballpark.
The Skeeters took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a solo home run by D.J. Petersen (3).
Two more solo home runs for Sugar Land by Denis Phipps (19) and Zach Borenstein (14) in the top of the third inning made the score 3-0.
The Skeeters broke the game open with a six-run top of the eighth inning. Cody Stanley had an RBI base hit, Rico Noel and Anthony Giansanti were both hit by pitches with the bases loaded, and Phipps plated two-more with a single for an 8-0 advantage.
Chase DeJong (3-1) picked up the win after he scattered just two hits in six scoreless innings pitched. Bobby Blevins (0-2) took the loss after he gave up three earned runs on seven hits in seven innings of work.
The 2019 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Saturday, August 10th with a 7:05 pm game against the Sugar Land Skeeters. The game features Fireworks presented by Brother International and a Fortnite event.
