SUGAR LAND, Texas --- The Sugar Land Skeeters announced that the Skeeters mascot will be unveiled Thursday, De- cember 1, at 10 am at Kids 'R' Kids Learning Academy at 11118 Hwy 6 South in Sugar Land. The mascot will make his first public appearance at the Sugar Land Annual Tree Lighting December 1, at 5 pm in Town Center.

"It is a great fit to find a company like Kids 'R' Kids that has the same philosophy that we do, and that is they're about kids and so are we," said Christopher Hill, Skeeters Vice President for Business Development. "We feel this partnership is all about providing wonderful opportunities for the children of Greater Houston. Plus, our mascot is a character that is always with us, whether it is the preseason, postseason or off season. It will be a very visible part of this community just like Kids 'R' Kids."

The mascot was created by Dave Raymond of Raymond Entertainment Group. Raymond pioneered the field of sports mas- cots with his innovative inhabitation of the world-renowned Phillie Phanatic. He was the original Phanatic, and his vision and performance skill spawned a revolution in the mascot industry.

The early childhood education provider, Kids 'R' Kids Schools & Academies, will sponsor the mascot. As a new corporate partner, Kids 'R' Kids will sponsor a full-color, sixteen-page comic book to be handed out at all mascot events and appear- ances. The comic book is currently being illustrated and describes the mascot's origin.

"Kids 'R' Kids Schools & Academies are thrilled to sponsor the Sugar Land Skeeters' mascot," said John Carroll, owner of Kids 'R' Kids Learning Academy in Sugar Land. "A major part of Kids 'R' Kids' core philosophy is to strengthen fami- lies through the education and care we provide for over 8,000 Houston area children. Because the Sugar Land Skeeters organization is also focused on providing high quality family-friendly activities, we look forward to a fun and entertaining partnership."

Also included in the corporate partnership is sponsorship of the Baseball Buddies program. The Kids 'R' Kids Baseball Buddies is a youth program geared towards local youth leagues. The selected team will receive 15 tickets to a game and an opportunity to stand on the field with the Skeeters during the National Anthem. Kids 'R' Kids locations will serve as registration sites.
