
Skeeters Late Rally Comes up Short in 7-6 Loss to Bees

NEW BRITAIN, CT - The Sugar Land Skeeters lost their second straight game to the New Britain Bees 7-6 on Saturday night and have now lost 10 of 15 against the Bees this season. The Skeeters are now 21-15 in the second half and tied with York for 1st place in the Freedom Division.
Sean Gallagher was pegged with his 7th loss after giving up four runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and a walk. Anthony Marzi picked up his 3rd win after replacing Mike Lee in the 3rd. Marzi went 4 1/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts and two walks.
Craig Maddox got New Britain on the board with a two-run blast in the 1st that would put the Bees up 2-0. Anthony Hewitt's sac-fly to center in the 2nd scored Michael Crouse to give the Bees a 3-0 lead. Jonathan Roof scored later in the inning on an error by Albert Cordero that extended the lead to 4-0.
The Skeeters bounced back in the 3rd on Travis Scott's fielder's choice that scored Jeff Dominguez to make it 4-1. Jeremy Barfield followed with an RBI single that would make it 4-2.
Jovan Rosa knocked home Nik Murphy with a sacrifice fly in the 4th that would extend the Bees lead to 5-2. Craig Maddox continued his productive evening with a two-run double in the 7th that would score Greg Golson and Jovan Rosa to put the Bees up 7-2.
Lance Zawadzki finished the night 3-5 and launched a solo shot in the 8th that would bring the score to 7-3. The Skeeters rallied in the 9th with Rene Tosoni's three-run blast, but it wouldn't be enough as Shawn Gilblair was able to shut down the Skeeters to record his 8th save of the season.
