Skeeters Go Into All-Star Break With Series Win

SUGAR LAND, TEXAS - The Sugar Land Skeeters defeated the York Revolution 5-2 on Sunday night, winning the series and closing out the home stand at 5-2. The Skeeters are now 5-2 in the second half and 40-37 on the season. Sugar Land remains 1.5 games up on York for 1st place in the Freedom Division.

Jake Hale picked up his 2nd win of the season, going eight innings, giving up two runs on seven hits with two strikeouts. Ty'Relle Harris took his 3rd loss after going six innings, giving up five runs on seven his with seven strikeouts and three walks.

Travis Scott opened up the scoring in the 1st on a fielder's choice that would score Jeff Dominguez to put the Skeeters up 1-0. Josh Prince' single to left in the 2nd would score Kent Matthes to extend the lead to 2-0. Ty'Relle Harris gave the Skeeters another run after hitting Albert Cordero with the bases loaded. Kent Matthes launched a two-run homer in the 5th to put the Skeeters up 5-0. Matthes announced his retirement after Sunday night's game and finished his last game by going 2-2, HR and 2 RBI.

York added a couple runs in the 6th but it wouldn't be enough to overcome Sugar Land's lead. Dan Runzler would come on in the 9th to record his 1st save of the season.
