MOBILE, ALA. (MAY 26, 2014) - Generals starter Tyler Olson (1-2, 4.94) pitched six shutout innings, but a rough seventh doomed Jackson as they dropped their Memorial Day matinee to the Mobile BayBears 6-3. The Generals scored two runs in the second, but were 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position on the day.

For the 11th time in their last 16 games Jackson scored at least one run in the first three innings. Mickey Wiswall (1x3, R, RBI, BB) scored on a Jack Marder (1x4, RBI) ground out in the second inning. Then centerfielder Jamal Austin (1x4, RBI) earned his first RBI on the road trip with a single to score Mike Dowd (1x3, R, BB) that made the score 2-0 Generals.

Olson shut out the BayBears for the first six innings. He surrendered a home run to Raywilly Gomez to begin the Mobile seventh. It was followed by a Tom Belza single and Mike Freeman reaching on a fielder's choice. Olson was then replaced by Moises Hernandez (0-4, 5.63) and the BayBear bats came alive.

With the bases loaded Gerson Montilla singled to score Mike Freeman to tie the game at 2-2. Then David Peralta drove the dagger through the Generals hearts. He singled to center, but the ball got past Leon Landry (0x5) in center field and the bases cleared as Peralta ended up on third. Jon Griffin hit a sacrifice fly to score Peralta and the lead was 6-2 Mobile.

Jackson added a run with a bases loaded walk in the eighth, but drew no closer to the BayBears as they lost 6-3.

Starter Braden Hagens (3-2, 2.66) earned his third win on the season allowing just two runs on four hits over seven innings of work. Moises Hernandez (0-4, 5.63) dropped to 0-4 as he picked up the loss with a shaky seventh inning.

The Generals and BayBears will play game two of this series on Tuesday. Jackson will look to have Matt Anderson (0-2, 9.42) make the start on the mound as A.J. Schugel (2-1, 3.35) will be on the hill for Mobile. The game is slated to start at 7:05 pm and can be heard on 96.5 ESPN, TuneIn Radio and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
