
Lookouts Top Barons in Series Opener 6-3

Birmingham, AL - The Birmingham Barons dropped game one of their five-game series against the Chattanooga Lookouts by a score of 6-3 in front of a Barons Memorial Day-record crowd of 5,360 at Regions Field.
The Lookouts scored three runs over the first three innings to take an early 3-0 lead against starter Nick McCully (2-5. 6.95). Ryan Adams started the scoring with an RBI ground-rule double in the first inning. Brian Cavazos-Galvez extended the lead to 2-0 in the second with a solo home run to left field. An RBI single by Daniel Mayora in the third pushed the lead to 3-0.
The lead would grow to 6-0 in the 5th on RBI doubles by Jeremy Hazelbaker and O'Koyea Dickson, knocking McCully from the game after allowing six runs on nine hits over 4.2 IP.
The Barons got on the board with two runs in the sixth inning on an RBI double by Dan Wagner and a run-scoring single by Chris Curley, cutting the Lookouts lead to 6-2. The Barons got within three runs on an RBI groundout by Christian Marrero and loaded the bases with one out in the ninth but couldn't complete the comeback, falling by a score of 6-3.
Wagner finished with a season-high three hits but the Barons fell to 20-31 on the season while Chattanooga improved to 20-31. The Barons will look to reboundtomorrow night as they send RHP Chris Beck (2-6, 4.28) to the hill against RHP Tyson Brummett (4-3, 1.66). First pitch is schedule for 7:05 PM CDT.
