Six-Run Second Inning Paces Keys in 10-6 Win

May 3, 2008 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Frederick Keys News Release

Frederick's offense has lagged for much of their current road trip but the story would not be the same Saturday night. The Keys offense ignited, scoring nine runs in the game's first three innings as Frederick held off Potomac to end their three game losing streak 10-6.

Leading 1-0 into the second inning, Frederick scored six times on just five hits. LF Chris Amador tripled home two runs to give Frederick a 4-0 lead. Later in the inning up five runs, RF Brandon Tripp hit a soaring two-run home run to put the Keys up 7-0.

In the contest every Key reached base. DH Brandon Snyder would break through going 3-for-5 with a run scored. Both Amador and Tripp would drive home three runs apiece. 1B Chris Vinyard was also 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored. The 13 hits was second most for a Keys team this year.

After pitchers Pedro Beato and Jeff Moore struggled through the first six innings, LHP Ryan Rodriguez (2-0) came in and settled the ship. Rodriguez worked three scoreless innings for his sixth consecutive scoreless appearance.

The Keys will try for the series split with RHP Jake Renshaw atop the hill for Sunday's 1:05 p.m. start at Pfitzner stadium.
