Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
Myrtle Beach, S.C.- The Myrtle Beach Pelicans return to BB&T Coastal Field on May 5th to begin a three-game home-stand against the Potomac Nationals, who own the Carolina League's best record. The battle between first place clubs will be contested over the course of three days. The first two games are scheduled 7:05 p.m. starts, while the series finale on May 7th is a 10:35 a.m. special start time for the second School Kids Day of the season.
Since the series opener coincides with Cinco de Mayo, the Pelicans are hosting a celebration at BB&T Coastal Field. The festivities will include the Pelicans variation of the Mexican Margarita made with Bacardi Silver. In addition, a fajita bar will spice up the food line-up for the fiesta. Themed music and on-field events throughout the game will liven the atmosphere.
Monday is also the fourth Hard Rock Park Guitar Hero Tournament of the season. The song of the day will be announced when gates open (5:30 p.m.), and the fan with the nights highest score will be invited back on September 1st, the final home-game of the season, to compete for the grand prize of a customized Gibson guitar signed by the Pelicans. Nightly winners also receive a one-day pass to Hard Rock Park.
On Tuesday, May 6th, the Pelicans are hosting a health fair at BB&T Coastal Field. Local health organizations will be setting up tables to bring awareness to a wide variety of health issues in our society. Highlighting the event will be the Red Cross blood donor van. It's also "Two For Tuesday" at BB&T Coastal Field, where fans can redeem a South Carolina Education Lottery stub for two Pelicans bleacher tickets for the price of one.
Finally, on Wednesday, the Pelicans are asking all school-aged children to embark on BB&T Coastal Field for the second School Kids Day game of the season. The Pelicans and the P-Nats will wake up early to entertain all of the young children in this 10:35 a.m. game. Splash's favorite mascot friends Sharkie and McGruff will be in attendance. Also, numerous organizations will also be present to help educate children on everything from fire safety to wildlife protection. Community groups such as: the YMCA, the Children's Museum, and The Ripken Experience, will be on hand to inform students about the various summer programs available on the Grand Strand.
