Sioux City Musketeers Announce Selections for the USHL Phase II Draft

The future of the Musketeers took another step forward today with the USHL Phase II Draft. During this COVID-19 pandemic it was a good time to be able to connect with future Musketeer players & be able to move forward onto the 20-21 season.

"We met our immediate roster needs fulfilling scoring & adding main pieces to our blueline early in the draft," Head Coach Luke Strand said. "We continued to work on gaining experience, depth, competition, & our team identity round by round. I wish we could be together starting tomorrow! It is a huge credit to Andy Johnson, our scouting staff & coaching staff for diving into the layers of player evaluations & preparation."

"Overall, I think our staff is extremely pleased with the way things went today. We were able to add impact pieces between the pipes, on defense & up front," General Manager Andy Johnson said. "We started the day by acquiring another first round pick which gave us three picks in the top 12 today. Getting a premier scorer was our number one priority & we took care of that securing Matteo Costantini. Getting two high-end defensemen in Daniel Laatsch from the NTDP & Mikey Adamson from Dexter really set the stage for an overall outstanding day for us.

"I want to make sure we thank our scouting staff for the countless hours they spend in rinks, in the car & watching film," Johnson continued. "It's a thankless job at times, but these guys pour their hearts and souls into this job. Our staff in Sioux City - Coach Strand, Coach Abalan & Coach Durocher also had a huge hand in navigating the draft today & we appreciate their help in shaping the future of the Musketeers' organization. Special thanks as well to Rich Zaber, Heather Campbell & Bryce Griffin for their work behind the scenes on the business side during a chaotic week as well as our ownership group who goes above & beyond to provide the resources necessary to bring the best talent from around the world to Sioux City."
