Sioux City Explorers and 1360 KSCJ continue partnership for 2014 Season

SIOUX CITY, IA - The Sioux City Explorers announced today that veteran play-by-play broadcaster, Dave Nitz will return as the "˜Voice of the X's' for the 2014 season, and all 100 Sioux City Explorers home and away games will be heard on 1360 KSCJ and via the X's website (www.xsbaseball.com).

The 2014 season will mark Nitz's 33rd year in minor league baseball broadcasting and his sixth season as the "˜Voice of the X's. A radio broadcast veteran, Nitz has been calling collegiate and professional athletic events for over 50 years.

"KSCJ is honored to continue our partnership with the X's as the only radio home of Explorers baseball in team history," comments Powell Broadcasting General Manager, Dennis Bullock. We consider it a great service to X's fans and our listeners in and around Sioux City. Veteran broadcaster Dave Nitz has become synonymous with summer and we are excited that Dave is back again for another baseball season. We are also pleased to announce the addition of Shawn Tiemann to the broadcast team. Dave and Shawn will surely make up one of the premiere broadcast teams in the league and we are proud to have them on KSCJ."

In his 33 years of minor league baseball broadcasting, Nitz's has called the games for the Texas Rangers' Triple-A farm team in Oklahoma City, the former San Francisco Giants' Double-A team in Shreveport, LA and the Baltimore Orioles' Single-A team in Bluefield, WV. In addition to his affiliated experience, Nitz has been with independent league teams in Baton Rouge and Shreveport, LA. Throughout his career, he has broadcasted over 3,500 minor league baseball games.

"Dave is one of the best in the business and it is a true pleasure to have him serve as the "voice of the X's" again this season as our fans will once again be treated to a first class broadcast thanks to Dave and the staff at 1360 KSCJ."

Along with minor league baseball, Dave is in his 39th year as the radio voice of Louisiana Teach football, basketball and baseball. Recent accolades Nitz has received were Louisiana Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association and his induction in the Louisiana Tech Athletic Hall of Fame, which also includes Terry Bradshaw and Karl Malone.

Shawn Tiemann, who has over 14 years of radio and television play-by-play experience in several sports at the high school and collegiate levels, will be joining Nitz in the radio booth in 2014 during home games, while also assisting in the X's media relations department. In 2013, the St. Louis, Missouri native completed his first season of minor league baseball as the #2 play-by-play announcer and media relations assistant with the Laredo Lemurs of the American Association.

Tiemann, resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma and currently serves as the play-by-play voice for Rogers State University men's and women's basketball (NCAA Division 2), while also working with the RSU baseball and softball teams. Shawn has also done work for John Brown University (NAIA Division 1) and Oral Roberts University (NCAA Division 1).

"Shawn will be a great addition to our broadcast booth and our media relations department with the experience he brings to our organization", stated X's VP/General Manager, Shane Tritz.
