Milwaukee Wave News Release
MILWAUKEE (February 24, 2005) â Milwaukee Wave Vice President of Soccer Operations and Head Coach Keith Tozer announced today the signing of a two-year contract with defender Sinisa Alebic. The Wave acquired Sinisa's rights on February 10 from the St. Louis Steamers. His contract will cover the remainder of this season through the 2005-06 campaign.
"We are all very excited about Sinisa's return to the Wave," said Tozer. "His experience and ability, coupled with his size and heart make for a great addition to our team at this important time of the year."
Alebic begins his second stint in Milwaukee, following three prior seasons with the Wave (00-01, 01-02, 02-03). While with the Wave, the Split, Croatia native appeared in 88 games, tallying 39 points and 92 blocks, and also contributed to the 2000-01 MISL Championship Title. The 35-year-old enjoyed his finest season while with the Wave in 2001-02, posting career best totals in games played (43), goals (9), assists (7) and blocks (46). Alebic spent last year's campaign with the Dallas Sidekicks, where he was an MISL All-Star, after he was selected in the 2003 MISL Expansion Draft.
*Activating Alebic has placed midfielder Jonathan Greenfield on a waiver for purposes of termination for a period of 72 hours.
