Atlanta Silverbacks News Release

The Atlanta Women host Northern Virginia this Sunday.

The Atlanta Silverbacks Women have struggled on their recent travels with both injuries and national team call-ups and are happy to be returning home this Sunday for a 2 p.m. contest against the Northern Virginia Majestics at the James Hallford/DeKalb Memorial Stadium.

"July has been a difficult month overall for the team. We are obviously tremendously proud of the number of players that have been called up to the US and Canadian national teams. Unfortunately for us, it has significantly impacted the chemistry and overall dynamics of the team. When you are forced to change the starting line-up every week by three or four players, any team would have a difficult time being consistent," commented Head Coach Graham Chandler.

The Silverbacks will play a Northern Virginia team who are currently 4-6-0 on the season. Earlier this season the Silverbacks defeated the Majestics 2-1 after out-shooting them 22-7.

"We are really looking forward to the rematch and to playing at home to finish the season. We want to get back on the winning track and us finishing our chances is crucial. Game in and game out we have created numerous quality chances, but have been unable to finish. We have put ourselves in a difficult position the last few games by not finishing early and then having play catch-up," commented Chandler.

The Silverbacks, who are in their inaugural season are currently 6-5-1 and third in the conference. The Charlotte Lady Eagles are 9-2-1 and the Central Florida Krush are 9-1. With only three games left in the season, the Atlantic Playoff spots have been secured with Charlotte and Central Florida heading to the sweet sixteen held in Cincinnati, Ohio July 29th and 30th.
