If you love soccer, this is the weekend you've been waiting for! On Saturday, our Whitecaps Men battle Sunderland from the English Premiership. Game time is 7:00pm at Swangard Stadium. Sunderland was promoted to the Premiership after winning the English Championship League last season by a convincing seven point margin. In the upcoming EPL campaign, Sunderland will play the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal so Saturday's contest should be a huge test for Bob Lilley's crew. A limited number of reserved seats are still available for Saturday's big game, and to ensure that as many soccer fans as possible have the opportunity to witness this big match, a limited number of standing room tickets will also be available. The Whitecaps Women return to action this Sunday in a special 4:00pm afternoon match vs. the Fort Collins Force. Sunday is the only afternoon game of the year, so don't miss your chance to enjoy soccer in the sun! Sunday is a Whitecaps Family Night with 4 tickets and 4 Happy Meals from just $49. Sunday's match will be a tune-up for our women's two-game series next week vs. the 2003 WUSA Champs the Washington DC Freedom. The series will kick off on Tuesday, July 19th in Nanaimo, with the second match taking place Thursday, July 21st at Swangard. In addition to this clash between championship teams, Thursday's match will also include a number of fundraising components to benefit the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF). The first 500 people will receive a pink bandana, there will be a giant paper airplane toss at half-time, plus $2 from every ticket sold through Ticketmaster will benefit CBCF. The Women will also be sporting special jerseys that night with pink ribbons on either sleeve. All of the jerseys will be autographed, then auctioned off following the game.
