Silverbacks scrimmage revealing for Allen
March 5, 2008 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL)
Dayton Silverbacks News Release
Miami Valley Silverbacks head coach Carl Allen was pleased with what he saw at the annual Silver-Black game Saturday night.
"I think it went well," Allen said of the annual intersquad scrimmage which pitted the offense against the defense.
The offense prevailed by three at the conclusion of the two hour scrimmage. An offensive touchdown was good for seven points while a defensive stop or turnover was worth seven points for the defense. The offense kicked a field goal for the difference.
"I think the defense looked good overall," defensive coordinator Jason Freshwater said. "But, we still have some work to do."
Allen saw what he expected in the scrimmage, but also saw some players step up during the scrimmage.
"The guys we expected to play well did and some of the young guys stepped up as well," Allen said. "We saw some guys step up on both sides of the ball."
The Silverbacks kick off the season on March 15 at Hobart Arena against the New Jersey Revolution. Tickets are still available at the Hobart Arena box office as well as online at www.silverbacksfootball.com by clicking on the link for Hobart Arena.
