Raiders Welcome Former UIF Powerhouse Raptors To CIFL With A Rout

March 5, 2008 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL)
Rochester Raiders News Release

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 5, 2008)- Monday night the Rochester Raiders visited the Rock River Raptors in a pre-season match up that some considered a possible preview of the 2008 Continental Indoor Football League. The Raiders came out swinging and jumped to a quick 19-point lead by halftime at the Metro Center in Rockford, IL. Quarterback Mike Mikolaichik threw four first half touchdowns, three of which were to Raiders wideout Maurice Jackson. The Raiders continued to role in the second half with the second and third teams not missing a beat against the Rock River starters on their way to a 50-10 rout. Having six projected starters not make the trip did not seem to slow down the Raiders at all in their first appearance since winning the 2007 CIFL Championship last summer.

The Raptors are entering their first season in the CIFL after dominating teams in the United Indoor Football League over the past couple of years, and having lost by only four points to an undefeated Sioux Falls team. With this victory the Raiders have proven that the CIFL is at the top of all the indoor football leagues in the country.

The Raiders sent 29 players on the trip to Rockford, some trying to earn a spot on the Raiders 21 man roster. Notable players that were unable to play various reasons were kicker Adam Lanctot, defensive linemen Eddie Bynes and Kwynn Walton as well as defensive backs JJ Gibson, Chris Shaw, and Darius Smith.

The Raiders will kick off their 2008 season March 21 when they visit the Chesapeake Tide and will have their home opener at the Blue Cross Arena the following week March 29 against the Lehigh Valley Outlawz at 2:00pm. Season Tickets are currently on sale at the Blue Cross Arena and through Ticketmaster at a cost of $60 for the entire season, individual tickets are also available at the Blue Cross Arena and Ticketmaster for $15 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under.
