Silverbacks message of goodwill continues
August 1, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Buffalo Silverbacks News Release
Buffalo, NY. The ABA Buffalo Silverbacks, with the support of Creditors Interchange, have forged their way through a rigorous schedule of life seminars called "Do Your Best, Never Quit." The team has performed more than 40 of their seminars teaching WNY children to focus on the effort they apply and not the result.
Modie Cox, player/assistant coach and lead speaker of the "Do Your Best, Never Qui" movement said, "We want the children to know it's not about the win or the loss, it's about doing your best and believing in yourself. As long as you've done your best, no one can take that from you."
The Silverbacks have received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from their life seminars and wish to continue the initiative as part of a foundation. Richard L. Jacob, Ph.D. stated, "Word is out within local community youth centers about the positive impact our message is having on the children of WNY." Dr. Jacob continues, "The Do Your Best, Never Quit," message is far too valuable to the children of WNY to go unnoticed."
In a letter to the Silverbacks, Patricia A. Elliot of Old 1st Ward recently wrote, "...it is a very valuable and worthy presentation that should bear rich fruit in the lives of the youth it reaches. It is a very engaging and enrolling presentation that challenges the game of the player but also the game of life. Every community center, school and youth organization should do this for their young people. Our young people in the inner city are up against a lot of pressure but in just a few short but very precious moments the "Do Your Best, Never Quit" can release in their minds the ability to be able to react positively and make the kind of decisions that make life good."

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
