April 26, 2007 - USL First Division (USL-1)
Atlanta Silverbacks News Release

The Atlanta Silverbacks will take on the Minnesota Thunder tomorrow night (4.27) at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium at 7:55 pm. The Silverbacks' match will definitely be the place to be tomorrow night as fans will get to enjoy great soccer at a great venue amidst the evening's expected great weather. In addition to the normal treats of a summer night with the 'Backs, tomorrow's match will have a spectacular post-game fireworks show. And the kicker...the game will be aired nationally in a live broadcast on the Fox Soccer Channel - so any fan in attendance will be included in the first nationally televised broadcast from RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium!

The Thunder (0-0-2) will be looking for revenge against the Silverbacks (0-0-1) who swept Minnesota last season. The 'Backs beat the Thunder 2-0 on the 4th of July at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium. Their second match-up in 2006 ended in a thrilling finish when the Silverbacks mounted a comeback in the 85th minute and scored an astonishing three goals in the final eight minutes of play to win 3-2.

Atlanta tied the Montreal Impact 2-2 in the Silverbacks' home opener last weekend. Newcomer Daniel Antoniuk scored both the Silverbacks' goals and earned USL Player of the Week. Minnesota has played two matches in the 2007 season, tying both the Charleston Battery (0-0) and the Carolina RailHawks (1-1).

There are still some seats available to see tomorrow's match. For more information or to purchase tickets, please call 1-866-GO-BACKS or visit www.atlantasilverbacks.com.

SILVERBACKS WOMEN'S TEAM ANNOUNCES RETURN OF VETERANS

The Silverbacks announced today the signing of Monica Buff, Nel Hayes (formerly Nel Fettig), Tara Minnax, Sharolta Nonen, Sarah Steinmann and Melanie Wilson. The players, who will all be returning for their third season with the Silverbacks, will provide a solid core for the women this season. In addition, the Silverbacks hope that they will provide some much needed consistency; each player has started in every game they have played in for two straight seasons.

"This season, we are really looking to increase the overall consistency of our team. We have always had a number of talented players, but we've struggled mid-way through the season due to injuries and players being called up to national team events," commented Silverbacks' Executive Director, Laura Fedrigo. "This group will give us a solid foundation to develop our team around; they've been with us since our inaugural season and they know our system."

The Silverbacks Women open their season on May 11 on the road in North Carolina against the Charlotte Lady Eagles. The team has their home opener at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium on June 1 at 7:55 pm against the Charlotte Lady Eagles.
