
Thunder Storms Atlanta Friday Live On Fox Soccer Channel

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Thursday, April 26, 2007) - The Minnesota Thunder will play its third consecutive road game and go for its first win of the season against the Atlanta Silverbacks on Friday, April 27 at 7 p.m. at Silverbacks Stadium. The game will be televised LIVE on Fox Soccer Channel.
The Thunder will follow the match-up against the Silverbacks by opening the home season on Sunday, May 6 at 5:05 p.m. at James Griffin Stadium against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Admission to the home opener is free of charge.
About the Thunder
Minnesota (0-0-2, 2 points) is looking for its first win of the season after playing to two draws last weekend on the road. On April 20, the Thunder were able to hold the Charleston Battery to a scoreless tie despite being banged up defensively. Goalkeeper Joe Warren earned the shutout, making five saves and facing 16 shots.
The following night, the Thunder tied the expansion Carolina Railhawks 1-1 in the Railhawks' first-ever game in their franchise. Thunder forward Ansu Toure converted a penalty kick in the 70th minute to tie the game after an early goal by Carolina.
About the Silverbacks
Atlanta (0-0-1, 1 points) opened its season by tying the Montreal Impact 2-2 at home on April 21. New acquisition Daniel Antoniuk scored both goals for the Silverbacks, and was honored by being named the season's first USL Player of the Week. Atlanta finished in eighth a year ago in the USL First Division standings by posting a record of 10-13-5.
2006 Season Series
The Thunder faced Atlanta twice last season, posting a record of 0-2. The Silverbacks defeated the Thunder 2-0 on July 4 in Atlanta, and won again in St. Paul on July 30, this time by a score of 3-2.
