Sounders Travel to Miami and Puerto Rico this weekend

April 26, 2007 - USL First Division (USL-1)
Seattle Sounders News Release

The Seattle Sounders hit the road this weekend for matches against Miami FC and the Puerto Rico Islanders. Both matches will be broadcast live online through USLlive.com. The Miami FC match starts at 5pm Pacific time Friday April 27th and the Puerto Rico match kicks off at 2pm Pacific time Sunday April 29th.

Seattle split their season series with Miami last season with each side winning at home. The more notable match-up between the two sides last season was the goal scoring duel between Miami's Romario and Seattle's Cam Weaver who eventually finished the season tied for the scoring title with 18 goals and three assists each. Both players have moved on, with Romario chasing the lifetime mark of 1,000 goals with Vasco De Gama and Weaver living his dreams of playing overseas with FC Haugesund in Norway.

Sunday the Sounders will travel to the farthest location from Seattle that they will play this season when they face the Puerto Rico Islanders in Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium. The Islanders edged the Sounders out of the playoffs last year. The Sounders will be looking for their first win ever in Puerto Rico.

Leighton O'Brien will not make the trip due to a hamstring injury suffered during training this week. Roger Levesque and Nathan Knox will both return to the line-up after missing the match in Vancouver. The Sounders will still be without the services of Sebastien Le Toux and Craig Tomlinson who are sorting out visa issues.
