SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio Silver Stars Chief Operating Officer Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil announced today that the Silver Stars have signed Bernadette Ngoyisa to a free-agent contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released. In addition, the Silver Stars have re-signed guard Tai Dillard and center Jessie Hicks, and added seven free agents to the training camp roster.

Ngoyisa, a 6'4" center from the Democratic Republic of Congo, has spent the majority of her career playing overseas. This spring she is playing in Italy for Ribera in the Italian Serie A1 League and the FIBA Europe Cup. In the Italian League, she has appeared in 28 games, averaging 18.3 points (third in the league) and 11.5 rebounds (second in the league) in 34.4 minutes per game. She leads the league in offensive rebounding, grabbing 4.1 rebounds per game and field goal percentage, shooting 63.1 percent (206-326) from the field. In Europe Cup games, Ngoyisa ranked first in rebounding (14.3 rpg), sixth in scoring (18.5 ppg) and sixth in field goal percentage (59.5%) before her team was eliminated from competition.

Prior to playing in Italy, Ngoyisa spent two seasons playing in France for Villeneuve d'Ascq of Lille in the French First Division and the FIBA Europe Cup. In 2002, she made her WNBA debut playing for the New York Liberty. Ngoyisa appeared in seven regular season games and three playoff games with the Liberty. In 22 minutes of total playing time she scored eight points and collected eight rebounds.

When not playing in the WNBA or in Europe, Ngoyisa represents Congo as a member of the Congolese National Team.

Dillard, who has spent the past two seasons with the Silver Stars, spent the offseason playing in Israel for Maccabi Tel Kabir. She started all 18 games for Tel Kabir, averaging 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.1 steals per game. For her WNBA career, she has appeared in 47 games with the Silver Stars, averaging 1.7 points in 7.9 minutes per game.

Hicks, a six-year WNBA veteran, spent the 2004 season in San Antonio appearing in 27 games, averaging 4.7 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. This offseason she is playing in Turkey. For her WNBA career, she has played in 169 games, averaging 4.2 points and 2.1 rebounds in 11.7 minutes per game.

The Silver Stars have also signed Keisha Anderson, Carrie Bacon, Katie Cronin, Andrea Garner, Kym Hope, Ugo Oha and Lindsey Yamasaki to free agent contracts. All seven will be in San Antonio when the Silver Stars open up training camp on April 24 at the new Antioch Sports Complex and Community Center.

The Silver Stars Roster currently stands at 17 players.
