San Antonio Stars News Release

SAN ANTONIO, April 22, 2010 - The San Antonio Silver Stars today announced the re-signing of guard Edwige Lawson-Wade. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not released.

"We are thrilled that Edwige will continue to play with the Silver Stars," said Head Coach Sandy Brondello. "She is an integral part of our team and her leadership, shooting and familiarity with our team will be a great asset to us."

Lawson-Wade first joined the WNBA in 2005 when she signed with the New York Liberty as a free agent; later that season, she was traded to the Houston Comets. She then signed with the Seattle Storm prior to the 2006 season, did not play in the league in 2007 and then signed with San Antonio on April 28, 2008.

The 2009 season saw Lawson-Wade finish with her best regular season output as she tallied averages of 5.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. In the Sept. 5 game against the Los Angeles Sparks, she recorded her first double-double of her career with 11 points and 11 assists in addition to recording a career-high-tying five rebounds and a career-high five steals. In the first round of the playoffs, Lawson-Wade posted 10.7 points per game, 3.0 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists per game, which also marked her best performance in the postseason.

The guard from Rennes, France, has helped each of the teams she has played with in her four-year WNBA career reach the playoffs, highlighted by the Silver Stars run to the WNBA Finals in 2008. During the playoffs that season, Lawson-Wade averaged 5.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in her five appearances.

In 2007 Lawson-Wade did not play in the WNBA and instead played for CSKA Samara in the Russian Women Superleague A, with whom she averaged 9.9 points, 4.3 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 27.6 minutes per game.

The Silver Stars open the 2010 regular season on May 15 with a 7 p.m. tip-off against the visiting Atlanta Dream. Full and partial season ticket plans are on sale now. Visit www.sasilverstars.com or call (210) 444-5090 for more information.
