Silver Stars center Chantelle Anderson undergoes successful knee surgery

SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio Silver Stars center Chantelle Anderson underwent successful surgery Monday to repair the fractured patella (kneecap) in her left knee. Anderson sustained the injury during Friday's 80-77 loss to the Washington Mystics. Dr. Richard Steffen of the Sports Medicine Associates performed the surgery.

Anderson is out for the remainder of the 2006 season and could take approximately six months to recover.

Anderson started 20 games for San Antonio and appeared in 23. She was averaging 6.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game and scored 17 points in the July 18 win over Houston.

The Silver Stars (11-13) host the top team in the West, Los Angeles, on Wednesday.
