San Antonio Stars News Release

SAN ANTONIO, April 14, 2010 - The San Antonio Silver Stars today announced a trade with Tulsa in which they acquire forward Crystal Kelly in exchange for guard Shanna Crossley.

"We really appreciate Shanna's involvement with the Silver Stars over the past several years and wish her nothing but the best in the future," said General Manager Dan Hughes.

Kelly has played two seasons in the WNBA with the Sacramento Monarchs and the Detroit Shock and has amassed career averages of 5.6 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. In her rookie season, she shot 85.0% from the free throw line which led all rookies on the team and put her second overall among the Monarchs players. Kelly played in 23 games for Sacramento in 2009 before being sent to Detroit in exchange for Kristin Haynie; Kelly finished the season with the Shock and tallied 2.8 points per game and 1.3 rebounds per game in 11 games.

Originally selected by the Houston Comets in the third round pick (31st overall) of the 2008 WNBA Draft, Kelly has spent time playing overseas during the WNBA offseason with C.B. Olesa (Spain) in 2008-09 and with Livorno (Italy) in 2009-10. This offseason, Kelly averaged 10.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 28.1 minutes per game as she helped Livorno reach the league playoffs; she also recorded two double-doubles.

Crossley, a second round pick (16th overall) in the 2006 WNBA Draft, has played three seasons with San Antonio, collecting career averages of 7.3 points, 1.1 rebounds and 14.6 minutes per game. The Tennessee alumna missed the 2008 season due to a torn left ACL and 11 of the first 13 games in 2009 due to a torn left meniscus, but still ranks second all-time in Silver Stars history in three-point field goals made (142), three-point field goals attempted (353) and three-point field goal percentage (.402).

During the 2007 season, Crossley tied a franchise record for three-point field goals made in a game as she sank 7-of-11 attempts against Phoenix on Aug. 2; the seven made three-pointers also tied for second in WNBA history. She tallied double-digit scoring figures 11 times - including three 20-plus-point performances - and finished the season ranked in the top 10 in the league in two categories: 10th in three-point field goal percentage (.409) and 4th in three-point field goals made per game (2.2).

The Silver Stars open the 2010 regular season on May 15 with a 7 p.m. tip-off against the visiting Atlanta Dream. Tickets are on sale now, starting at $10. Full and partial season ticket plans are also available. Visit www.sasilverstars.com or call (210) 444-5090 for more information.
