Silver Stars acquire Adrian Williams in trade with Phoenix

SAN ANTONIO - Silver Stars Chief Operating Officer Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil announced today that San Antonio has acquired Adrian Williams from the Phoenix Mercury in exchange for Gwen Jackson. The trade is pending player arrivals and physicals.

Williams, a 6'4" center/forward, has spent that past four and a half seasons with the Phoenix Mercury. This season she has started in 8 of 11 games averaging 5.9 points and 1.9 rebounds in 13.2 minutes per game. For her career, Williams has started in 74 of 130 games averaging 5.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.12 steals in 21.0 minutes per game. She enjoyed her best season in 2003 when she started in 33 of 34 games and averaged a career-best 9.8 points and 7.4 rebounds earning Williams her first WNBA All-Star appearance. Following the 2003 season she was named to the WNBA Select Team and played alongside Marie Ferdinand in the 2003 FIBA World Cup.

Jackson, a 6'2" forward, is in her second WNBA season, both with the Silver Stars. This season she has appeared in 19 games, including four starts, averaging 3.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game. During her rookie season, Jackson started in 26 of 33 games averaging 8.8 point and 6.2 rebounds in 29.5 minutes per game. For her career she has seen action in 52 games, including 30 starts, averaging 6.7 points and 5.0 rebounds in 24.3 minutes per game.

The Silver Stars are in the midst of a four-game road trip and will take on the Phoenix Mercury on July 21 before traveling to Connecticut on July 24 and Minnesota on July 28.
