Thurs., July 15 at Washington L 54-68

Allison Feaster led the Sting with 14 points. Chamique Holdsclaw paced the Mystics with 19 points while Tamicha Jackson chipped in 12.

Sun., July 18 at New York L 58-75

Tammy Sutton-Brown recorded 14 points and nine rebounds to lead the Sting while Dawn Staley and Kelly Mazzante each chipped in 11. Elena Baranova led the Liberty with 19 points while Crystal Robinson finished with 14.

Eastern Conference Standings

The Sting currently sit in second place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 10-9 record. They are one game behind first place Indiana (12-9) and a half game ahead of third place Connecticut (11-11). New York and Detroit are tied for fourth place with 10-11 records while Washington is two and half games out of first place with a 9-11 record.

CST Joins 1,000 Point Club

With a free throw at the 3:08 mark in the first half of the Sting/Mystics game on July 15, Charlotte Smith-Taylor recorded the 1,000th point of her WNBA career. The Sting now have five players currently on their roster who belong to the 1,000 point scoring club (Andrea Stinson (3,267), Dawn Staley (1,637), Allison Feaster (1,758), Tammy Sutton-Brown (1,057) and Charlotte Smith-Taylor (1,010)).

Camp Day

The Sting will host their annual camp day on Tuesday, July 20 as they take on the New York Liberty. Tip-off is slated for 12 noon. Prior to the game, fans can participate in interactive games, contests and join Radio Disney in a live radio remote just outside the Coliseum.

Olympian Send-off Night

On Saturday, July 24 the Sting will honor point guard Dawn Staley and wish her well as she embarks on her quest for a third gold medal. As part of the festivities, the first 2,500 fans will receive Sting baseball caps, courtesy of Bojangles. The Hoop Wizard will perform at halftime. In addition, several Olympians from other sports will be on hand to help celebrate. Fans can express their well-wishes to Dawn by signing her banner, which will be joined with banners from the 12 other WNBA teams and unveiled at WNBA vs. USA Basketball: The Game at Radio City on August 5.

Don't miss a moment of Sting basketball this season. Every Sting game can be heard live on WNMX-MIX 106. Calling the games will be Sam Smith, who returns for his second season with the Sting.

ON TV

Catch the Sting on WJZY-UPN 46 on July 31 at 10:00 p.m. as they play the Monarchs in Sacramento. The Sting will conclude their season on ESPN2 at 2:00 p.m. as they travel to Detroit on September 19.

New York Liberty

Notes: This will be the second match-up between these two teams in as many games...It will be the third of four match-ups between these two teams this season...New York holds a 2-0 lead in the season series...The Liberty have averaged 60.0 points and shot 51.0% (52-102) from the field in the two contests against the Sting this season...New York allows the lowest field goal percentage in the league holding their opponents to just 39.6% shooting from the field...The Liberty signed former Sting forward La'Keshia Frett to a replacement contract on July 16, 2004...Becky Hammon leads the Liberty in scoring averaging 13.0 ppg...Elena Baranova (11.8 ppg), Crystal Robinson (11.4 ppg) and Vickie Johnson (10.6 ppg) also average double figures for the Liberty.

Detroit Shock

Notes: This is the second of four match-ups between the two clubs this season...In their first match-up of the season the Shock shot 19-of-21 (90.5%) from the free throw line while the Sting shot 11-of-11 (100%)...The Shock outrebounded the Sting in that match-up 31-23...Detroit leads the league in rebounds per game averaging 33.1 rpg...Swin Cash leads the Shock in scoring with 16.8 points per game...Other players averaging double figures for the Shock include Deanna Nolan (14.2 ppg) and Ruth Riley (11.2 ppg)...Second year forward Cheryl Ford averages 10.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game for the Shock.

Washington Mystics

Notes: This will be the final regular season match-up between the Sting and the Mystics...The Sting currently hold a 2-1 edge in the season series... Allison Feaster has averaged 16.3 points per game against the Mystics this season...In the three games against the Mystics this season, the Sting are averaging 64.0 points per game while shooting 43.3% from the floor...Chamique Holdsclaw leads the Mystics and is second in the league in scoring with 20.1 points per game...Former Duke guard Alana Beard is second on the Mystics in scoring averaging 9.1 points per game...The Mystics have three players on their roster who played college ball in North Carolina (Alana Beard-Duke, Chasity Melvin and Kaayla Chones-N.C.
