Silver Sox Lose, Armada Clinch

The Reno Silver Sox lost tonight, August 22, to the Los Angeles Armada 11 - 8. The win over the Silver Sox also meant the Los Angeles Armada have clinched the second half GBL Championship.

Silver Sox starter Chris Saenz got the Silver Sox into a hole in the first inning when Armada LF Dan Trumble hit a three run homerun over the leftfield wall.

With the score now 5 - 0 going into the bottom of the second, the Silver Sox decided to cut down the lead by scoring three runs of their own. RF Ryan Kowalski hit an 2 RBI single up the middle and was able to advance to second on the throw. Then, CF Victor Hall scored on a wild pitch. The lead was now 5 - 3 going into the third. However, that would be the closest the Silver Sox would get to the Armada in this game.

Saenz pitched 5 2/3 innings for the Silver Sox allowing eight runs, six earned, on nine hits, while striking out five Armada batters.

Josh Evans in came in to pitch the eighth and ninth innings did extremely well for the Silver Sox allowing only two hits and no runs in two innings of relief.

On offense the Silver Sox were led by Ryan Kowalski who went 2-5 with three RBIs.
