Silver Sox beat Outlaws in Exhibition

The Reno Silver Sox won their first exhibition game last night, June 2, aginst the visiting Chico Outlaws, 8 - 5.

The Silver Sox started out strong in both pitching and hitting. Silver Sox starter Matt Parris, pitched 4 solid innings allowing only one hit in the third inning.

Meanwhile, the Silver Sox scored six runs in the first three innings. SS Jordan DeVoir scored after LF J.J. Johnson hit an sacrifice fly to center in the first inning.

Then in the second inning, C Mashai Chikazawa led off with a triple to deep center field. Then RF Jason Buhaglar was walked brining up 2b Patrick McCray. McCray hit a double to right, and on an error turned it into a triple, scoring Chikazawa and Buhaglar, to give the Silver Sox a 3-0 lead. McCray was then able to score off of a passed ball by the Outlaw catcher, making the lead 4-0.

The Silver Sox would make it 8-0 before the Outlaws put any runs on the board. The Outlaws, scored one run in the seventh and ninth innings, before adding three in the tenth inning.

The Silver Sox will travel to Chico on June 5 for one more exhibition game against the Outlaws before the regular season begins on June 7 in Reno.
