SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Silver Knights currently sit in the fourth spot, but they could see themselves jump as high as the third seed if results go their way.
The Knights (11-8, MISL #4) can finish in third place heading into the MISL playoffs if they beat the Rochester Lancers on Sunday, combined with the Missouri Comets (12-6, MISL #3) losing its final two matches, at the St. Louis Ambush and at the Milwaukee Wave. In this scenario, Syracuse and Missouri would be tied with a 12-8 record, but because of the Knights' sweep of the Comets during the season, the Salt City side would hold the tiebreaker and jump into the third spot.
If Missouri wins one of its final two games then Syracuse will be locked into the fourth seed.
When it comes to a playoff opponent, the Knights could face the Baltimore Blast (16-3, MISL #1) or the Milwaukee Wave (15-3, MISL #2) in the first round. The MISL playoffs are structured so that the league's #1 faces the #4, while the #2 does battle with the #3 in the two Semifinal matchups. Depending on Syracuse's finish, the Knights could face the Blast or Wave in the Semifinal round.
Milwaukee controls its own destiny to the MISL's top spot. If the Wave wins both its last two games against the Ambush and Comets, then the Wisconsin side will be the league's #1 since they own the tiebreaker over Baltimore. For the Blast to win the league, Baltimore needs to beat the Pennsylvania Roar, coupled with one Milwaukee loss.
Whoever the Silver Knights matchup with, the Semifinals will begin Friday, March 7 at The Oncenter War Memorial Arena at 7:30 pm EST in the first of a Best of 3 Series. The second leg will be March 10th or 11th. If the teams split, a 15-minute mini-game would be played immediately after Game 2. If Syracuse advances past the Semifinal round, the MISL Championship Games will be played March 13th-16th with the higher seeded team having the first selection of the date for the game they will host.
Tickets have been made available to the general public. Seating priority will be made when orders and payments are received based on purchaser's request and seat availability at that time. Fans will receive credit towards their 2014-15 Season Tickets for any Playoff tickets purchased for games not played. The Silver Knights will finish up the regular season on Sunday March 2 against the Thruway Rivals, the Rochester Lancers, in the Specialty Pink/Teal Jersey Game. This match will help support Breast & Ovarian Cancer. The Silver Knights will be auctioning off their game worn jerseys immediately following the game. Proceeds will go to Hope for Heather and the Crouse Health Foundation. This final regular season home game will also feature the Halftime Mascot Game starring The Silver Knight, Otto the Orange, Scooch & Pops of the Syracuse Chiefs, & more!
