Silver Knights Travel to Face Missouri and Wichita

November 16, 2012 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Syracuse Silver Knights News Release

The Syracuse Silver Knights resume MISL action this weekend as they set out on a two-game road trip at Missouri and Wichita. After dropping two of their first three games this season, the Silver Knights will be looking to rebound in a strong way as they kick off against one of the league's hottest teams in the Comets.

Led by All-MISL First-Team Defender Nelson Santana (10 points), Tommy Tanner's squad will be looking for its offense to break out this weekend after being held in check against Baltimore last week. Goalkeeper Bryan O'Quinn has emerged as one of the league's strongest performance so far this season, leading the league in both Points-Against Average (10.112), and Save Percentage (0.737). Newcomer Bozidar Jelovac, after scoring his first goal as a Silver Knight in last week's defeat at Baltimore, is expected to inject quality finishing into the Syracuse line-up.

Led by forward Byron Alvarez (6G, 2A) and midfielder Vahid Assadpour (2G, 7A), the Comets have jumped out to a red-hot start in 2012-2013, picking up wins in their first three contests. Currently tied for the MISL lead in points with 14, Alvarez led the Comets to an overtime win against the defending champion Milwaukee Wave last Sunday. Disrupting the offensive flow of Alvarez and Assadpour will be crucial to a Syracuse victory.

On Sunday, Syracuse will be hungry for a much-needed victory against a team that sits at the bottom of the league table. With an 0-3 record, Wichita will be relying on the scoring prowess of Brazilian forward Geison De Carvalho Moura (5G, 10 Pts.) for their first win of the season.
