Silver Knights Set to Host Detroit Waza Flo in Round 1 of Playoffs

SYRACUSE, New York - The Syracuse Silver Knights will start off the MASL post season play in a 1 game playoff against the Detroit Waza Flo on Saturday March 5th with a kickoff set for 7:00 pm at the OnCenter War Memorial. This will be the third meeting of the two squads this season with the Silver Knights taking a 2-1 series lead.
The Silver Knights are 8-1 at home this season with their regular season finale on Friday night at 7:30 pm. Tanner's side has been in great form as of late winning 6 of their last 8 matches.
Head coach Tommy Tanner has laid out his 3 keys to victory against the Waza Flo.
1) Getting 5 guys behind the ball - "Detroit has a lot of skilled guys when they are on the ball, we need to make sure to get all 5 guys behind the ball on the defensive end." The Waza Flo come into the matchup averaging 6.2 goals over their last 6 games including putting up 8 goals in their season finale on Sunday night against the Chicago Mustangs.
2) Pressure their defense - "We want to give their goalie fits and not give them any easy clearances out of the back. The more that we can cause turn over and push them into mistakes the better off we will be." Tanner knows that creating turnovers and getting pressure on the ball is the best way to create more goals and offense against a talented Waza Flo offense.
3) Counter attack - "We have a lot of speed on our team, with Joey, Antonio, Nate, Slav and more, I think we can out run a lot of the teams in this league." "Pushing the ball up the field and getting odd man fast breaks will be a huge turning point for us." The Silver Knights have used their speed all season to create goals and dangerous plays in the offensive end.
"If we can control the things we can control and get those 3 things done I think we have a great chance to get past Detroit."
