SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Silver Knights of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) have announced the signing of forward Machel Millwood.

Silver Knights Forward, Machel Millwood, Trelawny, Jamaica

Coming off of another MISL Championship - his fourth - Machel Millwood suits up for his 10th year in professional indoor soccer. The Jamaican has appeared in 182 games for the Baltimore Blast, dating back to 2004. Over his career, the forward has tallied 174 total goals with 113 assists. Additionally, Millwood is a two-time MISL First Team selection in 2009 and 2010, including a MISL Second Team appearance in 2012.

The Towson University product is familiar with Central New York. Millwood began his professional career with the Syracuse Salty Dogs of the USL A-League in 2003, appearing in 45 matches for 13 goals.

Now after years of battling against the Silver Knights, he is ready for a new challenge.

"I've always enjoyed playing for the [Syracuse] fans," Millwood explained. "They've always had a good fan base and I think they deserve the opportunity to go to the postseason."

According to Head Coach Tommy Tanner, the 2009 Championship Series MVP's class will be vital to his team's success.

"He'll be able to give us leadership on the field," Tanner said. "He can hold the ball up, and score a lot of points, I mean a lot of points."

"I think just having a little bit more experience on the team will naturally help with the younger guys who haven't really played a game before. As far as going to the postseason and being able to play in playoff games, I can bring a lot to the team," Millwood added.

Machel Millwood and the Silver Knights will kick off its regular season tomorrow, November 15th at the Pennsylvania Roar, followed by the home opener versus New York rivals, the Rochester Lancers on November 22nd at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena at 7:30PM. as the Syracuse Silver Knights roster begins to take shape in the team's third season.
