Silver Hawks Make Roster Move

South Bend Silver Hawks News Release


In conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the South Bend Silver Hawks have announced that pitchers Chase Anderson and Dan Taylor have been promoted to high-A Visalia. Also, pitcher Scott Allen has been added to the South Bend active roster from extended spring training.

Right-hander Anderson won the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period covering May 3rd through May 9th and departs South Bend with a 2-4 record and a 2.82 ERA. His best outing came on Saturday, May 8th when he threw a seven inning complete game shutout against the Dayton Dragons in the first game of a doubleheader.

Left-hander Taylor, from nearby Jenison, Michigan, was 2-2 with a 3.69 ERA this season in seven starts for the Silver Hawks. He struck out 30 and walked only eight in his 39.0 innings on the mound.

Allen is a right-handed pitcher who was drafted in the 11th round of the 2009 First Year Player Draft from Lyman High School in Longwood, Florida. Just 18 years old, Allen went 1-0 with a 0.51 ERA in 12 relief appearances for rookie level Missoula in 2009.

The South Bend roster currently stands at 23 active players plus two on the disabled list. The Midwest League allows for 25 active players.
