San Diego Siege News Release
In just their third game of existence, the San Diego Siege made National Women's Basketball League history Tuesday night.
The Siege defeated the Colorado Chill 81-70 for the first win on the Chill's home court in three seasons. The 2005 NWBL Champs had won 23 straight at home since their inception in 2003.
The Siege appeared to be too much for Colorado in the paint as center Tera Bjorklund led the way for the Siege with 26 points. Forward Cathrine Kraayevled had 20 points and 15 rebounds while shooting guard Jessica Cheeks had 15 points and 7 rebounds.
The Chill were led once again by WNBA/NWBL All-Star Becky Hammon's 27 points and 8 assists. Katie Cronin chipped in 12 points.
The Siege finished their season opening three game road trip with a 2-1 record. They won in overtime Friday night against the San Francisco Legacy and lost a 72-70 heart-breaker in San Jose Sunday night.
The Siege return home for their Saturday, February 18th home opener against the San Jose Spiders. The Siege play all nine home games at San Diego City College's brand new Harry West Arena.
