San Diego Siege News Release
SAN JOSE -- The Siege played their second close game in as many nights Sunday, but unlike Saturday's over time thriller, the end result wasn't the same.
Playing the second year NWBL franchise San Jose Spiders, the Siege came up a bit short, losing 72-70 on the Spiders' home court.
Long range shooting was the key for the Spiders, as forward Brittany Jackson connected on 5 of 8 from three point land and a game high 21 points. Teammate Caity Matter went 3 for 5 from beyond the arc, scoring 17.
The Siege overcame a tough eight point deficit, but couldn't put it together in the end for a second consecutive win. Siege center Tera Bjorklund had 17 points and 9 rebounds and was matched by front court mate Cathrine Kraayeveld with 17 of her own.
The San Diego Siege open their 2006 Inaugural Season with three straight road games, including Tuesday night's match up against the 2005 NWBL Champion, Colorado Chill.
The Siege return home for their Saturday, February 18th home opener against the San Jose Spiders. The Siege play all nine home games at San Diego City College's brand new Harry West Arena.
