San Diego Siege News Release

In a battle between the top and bottom teams, the San Diego Siege slew their latest opponent 87-74. Cathrine Kraayeveld had a Siege career high with 26 points to lead the team in scoring.

The Siege took a 10 point lead with three minutes left and did not relent.

The Siege made their run in the third quarter where Kraayeveld tied the game at 51 with a little over three minutes to play in the quarter. She gave the Siege their first lead since late in the first quarter on the next possession with a step in jumper after a pump fake.

The Siege hit four three-pointers in the first quarter, but found themselves tied with San Francisco 18-18. The Legacy swarmed NWBL MVP candidate Tera Bjorklund, keeping her scoreless in the first quarter

Bjorklund was able to score eight points in the second quarter, including an inside basket off of an Abby Scharlow air-ball with four seconds left in the half. The Legacy capitalized on some offensive rebounds and turnovers, and despite having a severe height disadvantage, were able to convert inside. Jennifer Kutz finished the first half with 10 points to lead the Legacy. Cathrine Kraayeveld led the Siege with 9 points and 5 rebounds.

The San Diego Siege play their second of three straight home games against WNBA/NWBL All-Star Becky Hammon and the Colorado Chill Sunday at 4:00 pm. They take a day off, then welcome cross-state rivals, the San Jose Spiders, Tuesday, February 28th at 7 pm.
