San Diego Siege News Release
With under 10 seconds left to play in a tied game, Adrian Williams was called for a travel, giving the Siege one final chance in regulation. Jessica Cheeks inbounded the ball to a streaking Loree Moore who not only made the lay-up, but drew a foul; and after converting the free-throw put the Siege up by three, 76-73, with three seconds left in regulation. Becky Hammon couldn't handle the ensuing inbounds play, and Loree Moore came up with the steal that sealed the game.
The first quarter was all San Diego. Tera Bjorklund and Cathrine Kraayeveld were again too much for their opponents, and combined for 15 points. The Siege at one point led 19-2 and finished the quarter up 24-10.
Colorado came storming back led by Katie Cronin's strong shooting, she finished the half 3-3 from three-point range and tallied 11 points to lead the Chill. Colorado cut the lead to 5 with under 2:30 left in the half, but San Diego finished the half on a 7-0 run to push the lead up to double-digits again, 40-28.
The Siege had a well balanced attack in the third quarter, as six players scored points. The Chill trimmed the 12 point halftime deficit to five, as the Chill's leading scorers Hammon and Cronin took charge.
The San Diego Siege will have a day off before their next game, Tuesday February 28, at home against the San Jose Spiders. The Spiders are the only team to beat the Siege this season.
