San Diego Siege News Release

The National Women's Basketball League's San Diego Siege formally announced a partnership between two of San Diego's most respected youth organizations, the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Dieguito and the Girl Scouts of San Diego-Imperial Council Wednesday.

The Boys and Girls Clubs serve more than 14,000 youth in North Coastal San Diego County throughout 14 facilities and outreach sites and make a perfect fit for the community-oriented professional women's basketball franchise. "We are extremely pleased to cultivate this partnership with the San Diego Siege," said BGCSDTO president/CEO Keith Padgett. "We are looking forward to building a relationship with the newest professional sports team in San Diego."

The Girl Scouts San Diego council serves 30,000 girls ages 5-17 throughout the county. They are the pre-eminent organization committed to building the courage, confidence and character of our nation's youth. "The Girl Scout's dedication to the growth of San Diego's young women is exactly the message we are trying to send from a community-interaction standpoint," said Siege General Manager David McElwee. "We could not be more excited to have both the Girl Scouts and the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Diego on board. The Siege are looking forward to providing all of San Diego's boys and girls a championship team come February 18th."

The Siege will offer members of both organizations buy-one, get-one free tickets throughout the nine-home game schedule. The home opener for the NWBL franchise is scheduled for Saturday, February 18th, 7 pm at San Diego City College's Harry West Gymnasium.
