
Sidewinders Fall in 10 Innings

After back to back ten inning victories, Tucson dropped a 6-5 contest Friday night in Fresno in ten innings in front of 13,252. Alberto Castillo delivered a two-out single to right scoring Cody Ransom with the Grizzlies game winning run and their first run since the first inning.
Fresno erased an early 1-0 Tucson lead with five runs in the bottom of the first off Sidewinder starter Chris Capuano. Alberto Castillo's two-run single pushed the lead to 4-1. Pitcher Luis Estrella even delivered a run scoring single for the final run in the five run frame.
Tucson rallied to tie the game in the top of the third. Doug Devore hammered a grandslam over the stands in right field off Estrella.
Tucson mustered just one hit after Devore's slam. However the Sidewinders had runners at first and second with one out in the top of the tenth. Manny Aybar struck out Danny Ramirez and Craig Counsell to end the inning.
Counsell played in his third rehab game with the Sidewinders and finished 1-5 with two runs scored.
Ricky Bottalico suffered the loss in relief to fall to 1-2.
The Sidewinders dropped to 43-43. Tucson and Fresno will play game two of the three-game set Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Brian Powell (7-7 3.79) will start for the Grizzlies. T.B.A. for the Sidewinders.
