DALLAS - The Dallas Sidekicks signed forward Mark Rowland to a one-year plus option agreement. The Sidekicks were also involved in a trade with the Monterrey Fury, giving up the rights to defender Brad Flanagan in exchange for the rights to defender Joe Mattachione, an undisclosed amount of cash and future considerations.
Rowland has practiced with the team for three weeks. He played the 2000-01 NPSL season with the Wichita Wings, his only season of indoor soccer experience. In 27 games, he scored 13 goals and had three assists. Rowland spent the summer with the Montreal Impact, his fourth season in the A-League. He spent the previous three seasons in El Paso (2000-01) and Hampton Road (2002). Rowland played 26 games for the Impact this summer, scoring two goals and adding one assist. Rowland and current Sidekick Martin Nash both played for the Montreal Impact this summer.
