Sidekicks Dominate Kansas City, 10-4

DALLAS -The Dallas Sidekicks jumped out to a 5-0 first half lead en route to a 10-4 win over the Kansas City Comets at Reunion Arena Saturday. The Sidekicks improved to 6-5 on the season and have won four consecutive home games.

Eight different players scored for Dallas as they scored 10 goals for the first time since a 10-6 victory over the St. Louis Steamers October 22, 2001. The Sidekicks had two goals from Nick Stavrou and Mark Rowland as well as a goal each from Kenny Bundy, Kiley Couch, David Doyle, Martin Nash, Leo Pernia, and Patrick Shamu.

Dallas built the 5-0 lead on a first period goal by Shamu and four second-quarter tallies. Rowland found the net at 3:04, followed by Couch at 8:58, Stavrou at 9:53, and Nash at 12:30. Dino Delevski put the Comets (3-6) at 12:39 of the second stanza the make it 5-1 at the half.

The Sidekicks then scored four in a row on tallies from Pernia, Stavrou, Doyle, and Rowland. Pernia scored as time expired in the third quarter and the others came in the fourth. Eric Dade became the 17th player in Sidekicks history with 100 points when he assisted Doyle's score at 8:48 of the fourth. It was Dade's 39th assist with Dallas to go along with 61 goals. Bundy added one more Sidekicks goal at 13:00. It was the 3500th goal in Sidekicks history.

Brian Soell scored Kansas City's second goal of the night at 11:52 of the final stanza. Anthony Maher and Delevski added goals in the final two minutes to make it 10-4.

Doyle hit another milestone in the third quarter when he blocked a shot by Wes Wade with 8:09 left in the period. It was Doyle's 500th career block as he became the second player in indoor soccer history with 1000 points and 500 blocks. Doyle has 1021 points on 618 goals and 403 assists. He finished the night with one goal, one assist, and one block. Hector Marinaro of Cleveland is the only other player in that category. He has 1892 points on 1204 goals and 688 assists to go along with 510 blocks.

The Sidekicks have a two game lead on Monterrey (3-6) and San Diego (3-6) in the MISL western division. The Sidekicks three-game home stand continues when the Sidekicks host the Cleveland Force (4-5) at Reunion Arena Friday December 12 at 7:05 p.m. Coverage on KSKY 660 AM begins at 6:50 p.m. The home stand concludes with San Diego Saturday December 13 at 7:05 p.m.
