DALLAS - The Dallas Sidekicks defeated the San Diego Sockers 10-2 Saturday night at Reunion Arena in front of a season high crowd of 15,558.
Dallas (9-26) scored the first 10 points of the game. The Sockers, who finish the season 14-22, stopped the shutout bid when Kevin Sakuda scored at 4:28 in the fourth with an assist from Carlos Farias.
Brad Flanagan opened the scoring at 14:26 in the first with a pass from Antonio Sutton. The Sidekicks then scored three goals in the second: Armando Valdivia at 4:39, Jose Alvarado at 6:59, and David Doyle at 14:46. Alvarado added his second goal of the game at 14:46 of the third for the 10-0 Dallas lead.
The crowd of 15,558 was the eighth-largest in Sidekicks history, the fourth-largest in the regular season. Alvarado had a career-high two goals in the game. They were his first goals since August 19, 2001 when the Sidekicks defeated San Diego 6-5 in overtime at the American Airlines Center in front of a club record crowd 17,710.
The Sidekicks host the Baltimore Blast (17-18) in the season finale at 6:05 p.m. Sunday at Reunion Arena. It is the final game of Tatu's career.
