[KISSIMMEE, Fla.]- The coaches of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) have voted Seals forward Rob Sich the Rookie of the Year. He is the second Seals player to win the honor in the franchise's three-year history.

The Windsor, Ontario native led all rookies in scoring with 56 points, 29 goals and 27 assists despite only playing in 46 games. He finished fourth on the Seals in scoring.

"This is an awesome achievement," Sich said. "It is nice to be recognized by the SPHL for what I did this year. I just hope I can continue to get better and help the Seals to a championship."

Sich scored four power play goals, three short-handed goals and added three game-winning goals helping the Seals to a third place finish in the SPHL.

"You can argue Sichy has been one of the best players in the league since we got him," said Head Coach Tommy Stewart. "Rob has great skills and should be very successful throughout his hockey career."

Sich joins former Seal Louis Goulet as league Rookie of the Year recipients. Goulet collected the award when the Seals played in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League during the 2002-03 season.
