Ohio Valley Greyhounds News Release

WHEELING, WV – The Ohio Valley Greyhounds of the United Indoor Football Association have released Mike Siani from his duties as head coach.

The decision was made after a 1-3 start by the Greyhounds, the worst in franchise history. Three of the franchise's five worst offensive outputs were also produced so far this season.

"Coach Siani is a class act and a model citizen," said Casey Ackerman, Assistant General Manager. "He has been a friend to our players and fans, and he has done numerous public appearances. But we as an organization felt that we needed to go another direction, a more familiar direction that would put us in a better situation to win ball games and keep the fans happy. We circled this first bye week on our calendars as a time to re-evaluate the whole organization, and a coaching change was vital for future success.

"We wish Mike Siani our best in all of his future endeavors."

Defensive Coordinator Steve Voytek will also not return to the Greyhounds.

The Greyhounds would also like to announce their new head coach, Mr. Mark Bonar. Bonar, a very familiar face to everyone around the Ohio Valley, led the Greyhounds to a 44-5 record over the last three seasons. His craftsmanship of the team also won the Hounds two consecutive championships and led them to a conference championship in his third season.

Bonar returns to the Hounds after resigning last November, prompting the hiring of Siani in January. Bonar's accolades include Coach of the Year status, three division titles, two conference titles, two national championships, and a perfect 17-0 season in 2003.

The remainder of Coach Bonar's staff will be named at a later date.

Coach Bonar's return to Ohio Valley will be official when the Hounds welcome Tennessee Valley to WesBanco Arena on April 23rd at 7:30 p.m. The first 2000 fans to enter WesBanco Arena will receive an official Greyhounds Foam Dog Bone, courtesy of Main Street Bank.
