Shutt Earns PIFL Defensive Player of the Week Award

COLUMBUS, GA (April 23, 2013) - On Tuesday, the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) announced that Columbus Lions DB Anthony Shutt won the Week 7 Defensive Player of the Week award.
DB Anthony Shutt (6'0 190, Florida A&M) is the second Columbus Lions defender in the last three weeks to grab the Defensive Player of the Week award. Two weeks ago secondary mate LeRoy Vann picked up the Defensive award.
In Saturday's come-from-behind victory over Richmond, Shutt moved to the top of the PIFL leaderboard in interceptions after picking off two passes giving him a total of five on the season. Down by 15, the Lions defense blanked the Raiders holding them scoreless on their final three drives giving the offense enough time to pull of the 48-42 come-from-behind win.
Altogether the Lions defense created three turnovers while holding Richmond to just one passing touchdown. In the past two weeks, the defense has only allowed two passing TD's both ending in come-from-behind victories.
Also picking up Week 7 nods was Alabama Hammers WR Mico McSwain and Lehigh Valley Steelhawks K Evan Selman.
This Saturday at 7:30 PM Columbus returns to "The Jungle" to host the Louisiana Swashbucklers (1-3) on "Stadium Cup Night" brought to you by Sprague's Auto Supply, your locally owned NAPA Auto Parts store. Two weeks ago in Lake Charles, the Lions pulled out a 45-42 victory over the Bucs erasing a second half fourteen point deficit.
