
Shuckers Fall In Run-Filled Series Finale Against Blue Wahoos

PENSACOLA, FL - The Biloxi Shuckers (39-42, 5-7) led 5-0 early, but the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (47-33, 6-6) smashed five home runs over the final seven innings to take the series finale, 10-8, at Blue Wahoos Stadium in Pensacola. The win split the six-game set between the two teams.
The Shuckers' offense exploded early with an RBI single from Lamar Sparks in the second, scoring Ethan Murray from second. Felix Valerio then added to the lead with an RBI single and Nick Kahle smashed his second home run in as many days to extend the lead to 4-0. In the third, Biloxi extended the lead to five with a walk and two passed balls that scored Tristen Lutz without a hit.
The Blue Wahoos started their comeback in the bottom of the inning with a solo shot from Colbie Fletcher-Vance and another later in the inning from Troy Johnston, cutting the lead to 5-2. The Shuckers extended the lead back to four with an RBI double from Carlos Rodriguez in the fifth, scoring Isaac Collins.
In the bottom of the fifth, a single from Victor Mesa Jr. scored Dalvy Rosario, making it 6-3. Griffin Conine smashed a grand slam to left three batters later, giving Pensacola a 7-3 lead. They extended the lead further with a solo shot from Cody Morisette two batters later.
The Shuckers got a run back in the sixth with a double play that scored a run, but Troy Johnston's two-run shot in the bottom of the inning extended Pensacola's lead to 10-7. Biloxi scored their final run of the night off a bases-loaded walk from Lamar Sparks.
In the ninth, the Shuckers has two runners reach with two outs, but Matt Pushard induced a game-ending flyout to right to secure his first save of the year. Evan Fitterer (5-3) earned the win while Robbie Baker (2-2) took the loss for Biloxi.
After a four-day All-Star Break, the Shuckers will return to MGM Park on Friday, July 14 against the Rocket City Trash Pandas. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. The game can be heard on Cruisin' WGCM 1240 AM, 100.9 FM with coverage beginning at 6:20 p.m. with the Biloxi Shuckers Pregame Show.
