Shreveport beats out Colts

San Angelo Colts News Release

Shreveport, LA- The San Angelo Colts mindset entering game 2 was to try and take 3 in a row, after having lost the 2nd half opener in 10 innings the night before. Now the best they can hope to accomplish is splitting this 4 game series after being thorughly dominated by Shreveport in game 2, a 6-1 final. For the Sports, this was a contest that was in the bag, nearly from the start as they'd explode for 4 runs in the 1st off 3 doubles in the inning. They'd tack on an un-earned run in the 5th, and another for good measure in the 6th.

San Angelo was staring at a shutout until the 8th, when Joe Gilbert doubled home Sean Bischofberger to spare the Colts that fate. Keith Black, the Sport's starter was simply dominant however, as he held the Colts to just a run on 4 hits, while striking out 7 on the night. Mike Henry would be handed the loss, just his 2nd of the season, although he didn't pitch poorly at all, he fell victim to no run support. 4 Colts had a single hit apiece, while Derek Patterson led Shreveport, going 2-4 with 2 RBI. This was a contest that lasted only 2 hours and 9 minutes, but for the Colts their night seemed to last much longer.
