January 27, 2014 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
Three Things You Need to Know
1.) Battle in Arizona- One of the hottest teams in the CHL, the Arizona Sundogs (17-18-3), will be tested this week when they host the Rapid City Rush (27-10-0) in three games beginning with a Kid's Day early start game on Wednesday (begins at 10 AM MT). The Sundogs are coming off of back-to-back wins in Vail against the Denver Cutthroats (19-12-8) with the win on Saturday coming in dramatic come-from-behind fashion. The Sundogs trailed 3-1 with just over six minutes remaining before Paul McIlveen (has goals in four straight games) and Matt McCready scored to tie the game and Jordan Clendenning netted the game winner in OT. The Rush come into the series tied with Allen for first place at 54 points although the Rush do have two games in hand on the Americans. Rapid City is 5-0 this season against the Sundogs and a commanding 33-8-0 in the all-time series.
2.) Allen Keeps Rolling- The Allen Americans (25-10-4) remain tied with the Rapid City Rush (27-10-0) atop the standings thanks to their two-game series sweep over the St. Charles Chill this past weekend. Allen has been the best team in the league for the past month going 11-0-2 over their last 13 contests. Their 13-game point streak is the longest in the CHL since the Rapid City Rush earned a point in 13 straight games during the 2010-11 season. The Americans have been led by Tyler Ludwig during their streak who has scored nine goals with eight assists during his current league-long 13-game point streak (Rapid City's Jesse Schultz has the longest this season at 15 games). Ludwig is third among defensemen with 29 points on the season (12-17=29). Allen will play a home-and-home this weekend against Wichita in a rematch of last season's Finals (Friday in Wichita and Saturday in Allen).
3.) Beausoleil Moving Up- Tulsa Oilers forward Michel Beausoleil is currently riding an eight-game point streak with six goals and six assists over that stretch and on the season he has racked up 24 goals with 18 assists for 42 points. The veteran is currently sitting tied with Jeff Bes for 15th on the CHL's all-time goal scoring list with 219 strikes. Beausoleil's assist on Saturday tied him with Taylor Hall (the team's current General Manager) and Craig Coxe for sixth on the team's all-time assist list. His 24 goals on the season are tied with Adam Pleskach for the most on the Oilers and are tied for third in the CHL.
By the Numbers
299: The number of CHL games that Missouri Head Coach Scott Hillman has coached, all with the Mavericks. On Wednesday in St. Charles, Hillman will become the 22nd coach to stand the bench for 300 CHL games joining Tulsa's Bruce Ramsay who went into the 300-game club earlier this season. In Hillman's four plus seasons with the Mavs, the former CHL defenseman has posted a 166-107-26 record. This season, the Mavs are in third place with a 24-11-2 mark.

-Rapid City forward Winston Day Chief has been on fire for most of the season and lately has six goals and is a +6 over his last six games. On the season, Day Chief has 21 goals and is a +19 in 29 games.
-Missouri swept their two-game series against the Tulsa Oilers this past weekend winning in Tulsa on Friday and in Missouri on Saturday. The wins keep the Mavs perfect against the Oilers at 7-0 on the season. The clubs will play two more times during the final weekend of the regular season, both in Missouri).
