Allen Americans News Release


Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans finished off the week with three straight victories and a tie for the top spot in the Central Hockey League, after wins over the Arizona Sundogs, and St.Charles Chill last week. Allen is tied with the Rapid City Rush, both with 54 points to lead the CHL.

Last week's record: 3-0-0

Overall record: 25-10-1, - tied for 1st place in the CHL.

Monday, January 20th vs. Arizona, 3-2 Win OT

Allen, Texas, - Spencer Asuchak tied the game late in the third, and Greger Hanson, won it two and a half minutes into overtime as the Americans defeated the Arizona Sundogs, 3-2 at Allen Event Center picking up five out of a possible six points against Arizona over the weekend.

Friday, January 24th vs. St. Charles, 5-2 Win

Allen, Texas - Spencer Asuchak scored twice, including a shorthanded goal as the Americans defeated the Chill 5-2 at Allen Event Center. The Americans scored the first three goals of the game including Alex Lavoie's team leading 20th of the year.

Sunday, January 26th vs. St. Charles, 5-2 Win

Allen, Texas, - Mark Guggenberger, stopped 27 of 28 shots while Tyler Ludwig, scored twice on the power play to lead the Americans to a 3-1 win over the Chill. Ludwig extended his point streak to 13 games in the win.

Matchup -This is a matchup of last year's Central Hockey League Finals in which the Americans defeated the Thunder in seven games to capture their first ever Presidents' Cup Championship.

Hot Streak - Tyler Ludwig is on a 13 game point streak, tied for the second longest in team history. The last time he was held without a point was on December 26th in a 4-2 loss to Tulsa. (Nino Musitelli 17 games in 2009-2010).

Americans Honored - Americans forward Spencer Asuchak was named the Oakley Player of the Week in the CHL for the period ending January 26th. He was also named one of the CHL Three Stars of the Week.
